Ahmadiyya Muslim Community rallies multi-faith non-partisan coalition to embrace ceasefire
WASHINGTON, DC, November 30, 2023—Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, the oldest Muslim organization in the United States, has launched a new campaign calling to amplify the voices calling for a ceasefire between Israel and Palestine and a long-term peaceful resolution for the trans-generational conflict. Entitled “Voices for Peace,” this effort provides a platform where individuals of any affiliation and background can come together under a shared commitment to peace, justice, and human dignity.
“The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is deeply concerned about the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza, the risk of wider escalation and the consequential risk of a world war,” said Amjad Mahmood Khan, the National Secretary of Public Affairs for Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA. “The Head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, has repeatedly and unequivocally condemned the killing of innocent civilians and urged all world powers to concentrate their efforts to de-escalate the conflict and work towards a lasting, peaceful solution based on justice.”
A special “Voices For Peace” event will be hosted in the Congressional building in Capitol Hill on Monday, December 4th, featuring remarks from Karim A.A. Khan, Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Imam Azhar Haneef, National Vice President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, and Professor Craig Considine of Rice University. About the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community:
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, reformist and fast-growing international movement within Islam. Founded in 1889, the Community spans 213 countries with tens of millions of members. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, established in 1920, is the oldestAmerican-Muslim organization.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the only Islamic organization to believe that the long- awaited messiah has come in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) of Qadian, India. Ahmad claimed to be the metaphorical second coming of Jesus of Nazareth and the divine guide, whose advent was foretold by the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad. The Community believes that God sent Ahmad, like Jesus, to end religious wars, condemn bloodshed and reinstitute morality, justice and peace. Ahmad’s advent has brought about an unprecedented era of Islamic revival and moderation. He divested Muslims of fanatical beliefs and practices by vigorously championing Islam’s true and essential teachings.
