Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Participates in 14th Annual Day on the Hill and 2025 IRF Summit

On February 2 and 3, 2025, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA held its 18th Annual National Public Affairs Seminar and 14th Annual Day on the Hill. The flagship events of the Public Affairs Department took place at the National Headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland and in Washington DC. Over 120 delegates from 48 Chapters across America attended the events.
The National Seminar featured an annual report by Amjad Mahmood Khan, National Secretary for Public Affairs and opening remarks by Maulana Azhar Haneef, National Vice President and Missionary Charge of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA. The interactive sessions included expert presentations on effective enegagement with members of U.S. Congress and best practices for social media and press engagement. In addition, special guest Nasim Malik of the International Human Rights Committee in Sweden and Morabbi Marwan Gill of Argentina shared inspiring stories from the field on their outreach work.
The next day, delegates embarked on a day on U.S. Capitol Hill in Washington DC, in which they held meetings with over 115 U.S. Congressional offices, including direct meetings with individual US Senators and Members of the US House of Representatives.
Delegates then joined a special program held by the International Religious Freedom Summit entitled, “In Solidarity with the Persecuted: United in Advocacy.” In a powerful showing of unity, representatives from eight severely persecuted faith communities—Rohingya Muslims, Yazidis, the Falun Gong, Ahmadi Muslims, Christians, Jews, Shia Muslims, and Uyghur Muslims—spoke on behalf of another persecuted community about developments in persecution from the prior year. In addition, the Secretary General of the Organization of American States, His Excellency Luis Almagro, provided keynote remarks about the importance of preserving religious freedom in the Western Hemisphere. The Co-Chairs of the International Religious Freedom Summit, Dr. Katrina Lantos Swett and Ambassador Sam Brownback, explained how the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community advocates for others as passionate as themselves and how this approach helps enable achieve true religious freedom. Nearly 150 people attended, included Congressional staff, thought leaders and members of civil society, participated in this unique event.
The next day, a dinner reception was held at the American Fazl Mosque in Washington DC, with 25 special dignitaries and foreign delegations from five countries in attendance.
On February 3-4, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA also participated at the 5th Annual Intenational Religious Freedom Summit, which was attended by over 1,700 delegates from 80 organizations and over 40 faith communities. Amjad Mahmood Khan spoke at the plenary session of the IRF Summit.
In addition, an exhibition of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community featuring the martyrs of the Community and the latest reports on the persecution of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community drew over 600 attendees of the Summit throughout the two-day proceedings.
