Statement from Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA on Attack at Temple Israel Synagogue in Michigan

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA is deeply shocked and saddened by the violent attack that occurred at Temple Israel synagogue in West Bloomfield, Michigan.

A place of worship is a safe place where individuals gather in prayer, reflection, and community, yet it was deliberately targeted in an act of hatred and violence. We pray for the swift recovery of those injured and extend our heartfelt condolences and solidarity to the congregation of Temple Israel, the Jewish community, and all those shaken by this distressing incident.

Places of worship must always remain sanctuaries of peace. An attack against a synagogue, church, mosque, temple, or any house of prayer is not only an assault on a particular faith community, but an attack on the fundamental principles of religious freedom, dignity, and coexistence that define our nation.

We unequivocally condemn this act of violence and call upon federal, state, and local authorities to pursue justice swiftly and decisively. Equally important, we urge all members of society to reject hatred, antisemitism, and all forms of religious intolerance.

At moments like this, it is more important than ever that people of all faiths unite in solidarity to ensure that hatred never overcomes our shared humanity.

“O ye who believe! be strict in observing justice, and be witnesses for Allah, even though it be against yourselves or against your parents and kindred.” — Qur’an 4:136
