Muslims for Life®

In 2011, memorializing the 10th anniversary of the tragic events of 9/11, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA (AMC) launched the Muslims for Life® campaign with the aim of collecting 10,000 pints of blood across America in order to help save 30,000 American lives. The campaign was conducted in more than 200 locations, collecting 11,803 pints of blood. Since 2011, the Muslims for Life® campaign has become a nationwide annual event, enjoying bipartisan Congressional support. To date, Muslims for Life® has held more than 1500 blood drives, collecting more than 60,000 pints of blood – enough to save 180,000 American lives.

2019 Muslims for Life® Blood Drives at US Capitol Hill and State Capitols

In 2019, several AMC chapters nationwide held the annual 9/11 memorial blood drive. The AMC held special blood drives at US Capitol Hill and State capitols in Massachusetts, Texas and Minnesota.

The Austin Chapter arranged a Muslims for Life® inaugural blood drive at the Texas State Capitol on September 11th, 2019, in partnership with the “We Are Blood” blood center. State Rep. James Talarico and State Rep. James Bucy co-sponsored the blood drive. Rep. Talarico attended the blood drive and met with the volunteers. Rep. Talarico sent the following quote following the event:

“I was honored to witness the generosity of spirit at the Muslims for Life Blood Drive organized by our Round Rock Muslim community in our Texas State Capitol. We are thankful for the service and vibrant role our Muslim neighbors play in making our Central Texas Region a great place to call home.“

The Minnesota Chapter also arranged a Muslims for Life® inaugural blood drive at the State Capitol building on September 11th, 2019.

The Boston Chapter held its 9^th annual Massachusetts State House blood drive, in partnership with the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center, with donations helping patients at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
