The Baitul Hameed Mosque in Chino drew 2,000 participants to its 37th annual convention from Dec. 27 to 29. The mosque, located at 11941 Ramona Ave., hosted the “West Coast Jalsa Salana,” which means annual gathering, with the theme “Fostering Compassion and Peace in Times of Conflict.” Guest speakers (from left) were Jose Calderon, Emeritus Professor, Pitzer College; Heather Ferguson, Professor, Claremont McKenna College; Augusto “Goose” Dolce, Executive Director of God’s Pantry in Pomona; Mirza Maghfoor Ahmad, National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA; Umar Hakim-Dey, Executive Director of INKERIJ in Compton; Farrah Khan, former Mayor of Irvine; Ulises Cabrera, Mayor of Moreno Valley; and Amjad Mahmood Khan, National Secretary Public Affairs, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA.
